Are you the right person for the job?
- You will have hands-on mechanical engineering experience and be happy to apply this to working with a number of different materials such as steel, aluminium, model board, plywood and other sheet materials as well as timber and GRP (fibreglass)
- Experience in Model Making/Building, Carpentry/Joinery would also be considered and on-site training in any skills not already obtained would be offered
- You will have experience and competence working with wood and metal working machines and hand tools
- You will have a good understanding of engineering practices such as reading engineering drawings, understanding dimensions, working to tight tolerances and high-quality finishes with health and safety always in mind
- Computer literacy would be a benefit for viewing assembly files and CAD models but not essential.
What will your role as a Pattern/Model Maker look like?
- You will be expected to work closely with the design team, painters/finishers, inspection and project management team to understand project requirements and be prepared to have a varied yet fulfilled workload due to the diverse nature of our business
- You will report to the Workshop Manager
- There are often instances where you will be required to work off-site to install and commission work, which sometimes involves working overseas
- Overtime is offered at 1.66 x and there is the expectation for additional hours to be worked at busy times during the production of show models and tight timescale projects
- 38 hours per week as standard
- Predominantly workshop based
